about seven years apart

Seven years apart is the brainchild of Marlon Mooijman and Rik van Honk.

Seven years is the time we have been working on this music together, separated by an ocean, living apart. Even earlier and in other projects, Marlon and Rik always experienced a musical connection when playing together. They felt this deserved to be explored further, so they did some jam sessions in a rehearsal space to work out their ideas. They recorded the outlines of these ideas with Drums and Keyboards just before Marlon moved to the United States.

Seven years went by, and connections with other people were made. Lyrics were written, vocals recorded, guitar players involved. Connections were made and kept strong through recording new music and discussing our progress. Reminding ourselves that this music deserved to be finished.

Seven years apart is about these connections through music and this common goal we both have. To make this music together.

Today, we’ve taken another step in achieving that goal.
